ਬਿਸਨੁਪਦਪੁੰਨ੍ਯਾਕੀ॥ਤਰਹਦੂਜੀ॥ਬ੍ਰਿਧਖੰਭਾਯਚ…॥
बिसनुपद पुंन्याकी ॥ तरह दूजी ॥ ब्रिध खंभायच ॥…
ਅਕਾਲਪੁਰਖਕੀਆਗਿਆਪਾਇਪ੍ਰਗਟਿਭਯੋਰੂਪਮੁਨਿਵਰਕੋ॥
By the command of [A]kal Purakh [the Khalsa] took the form of the most exalted of sages, with matted hair from the top of its head to the smallest nail of its toe.
अकाल पुरख की आगिआ पाइ प्रगटि भयो रूप मुनिवर को ॥
ਜਟਾਜੂਟਨਖਸਿਖਕਰਪਾਵਨਭਗਤਸੂਰਦ੍ਵੈਰੂਪਨਰਵਰਕੋ॥
By keeping company with the divine it achieved true purity, acquiring the noblest of forms which is that of the truly devoted (bhagat rup).
जटा जूट नख सिख कर पावन भगत सूर द्वै रूप नरवर को ॥
ਚਕ੍ਰਵੈਪਦਦਾਤਧੁਰਿਪਾਯੋਧਰਮਰਾਜਭੁੰਚਤਿਗਿਰਿਵਰਕੋ॥
Dharam-raj bestowed on it the rank of ruler supreme, setting its place far above all that others can reach.
चक्रवै पद दात धुरि पायो धरमराज भुंचति गिरिवर को ॥
ਉਦੈਅਸਤਸਮੁੰਦ੍ਰਪ੍ਰਯੰਤੰਅਬਿਚਲਰਾਜਮਿਲਿਓਸੁਰਪੁਰਿਕੋ੪॥॥
From heaven he established its [paramount] rule, from the furthest shore to the uttermost limit. 366
उदै असत समुंद्र प्रयंतं अबिचल राज मिलिओ सुरपुरि को ॥४॥
ਪੰਥਖ਼ਾਲਸਾਭਯੋਪੁਨੀਤਾਪ੍ਰਭੁਆਗਿਆਕਰਿਉਦਿਤਭਏ॥
By his command the Lord created that Panth which is the Khalsa.
पंथ क़ालसा भयो पुनीता प्रभु आगिआ करि उदित भए ॥
ਮਿਟਿਓਦ੍ਵੈਤਸੰਜੁਗਤਿਉਪਾਧਿਨਿਅਸੁਰਮਲੇਛਨਮੂਲਗਏ॥
The earth was cleansed of refuse, both demons and malechhs.
मिटिओ द्वैत संजुगति उपाधिनि असुर मलेछन मूल गए ॥
ਧਰਮਪੰਥਖ਼ਾਲਸਪ੍ਰਚੁਰਭਯੋਸਤਿਸ੍ਵਰੂਪਪੁੰਨ੍ਯਰੂਪਜਏ॥
The sacred and pure Panth multiplied, walking in the way of truth and piety.
धरम पंथ क़ालस प्रचुर भयो सति स्वरूप पुंन्य रूप जए ॥
ਕਛਕੇਸਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਤ੍ਰੈਮੁਦ੍ਰਾਗੁਰਭਗਤਾਰਾਮਦਾਸਭਏ੫…੩੧੪੮੪੬੩੧੬੫॥॥॥॥॥॥
Kachh, kirpan, and kes — these three signs made followers of the Guru the servants [also] of God (ram das). 367
